Youth Director: Sara Stein St. Michael's youth are such an important facet of life at the church. Besides laying the foundation of Christian education through our Sunday school programs, we offer opportunities for our youth to get together in fellowship. Sometimes it's something as simple as a pizza party and just hanging out. The Episcopal Diocese also has youth events: Cathedral Lock-Ins "Son-Shine" @ Beaver Cross Convention Youth Rally @ Camp of the Woods, Speculator Beaver Cross Community Camps in the summer Upcoming Events Sunday March 14th Bowling Event Reminder if you haven’t told Sara you plan to attend our bowling event with St Bonafice, Guilderland youth group, please do so ASAP, so we can let the bowling alley know how many we will be expecting. We will be meeting at Westlawn Lanes, Rt. 20 in Guilderland at 2:00 pm for bowling, and afterwards going to Pizza Hut at 1767 Western Ave. We will be transporting the kids from bowling to pizza hut. Cost per person is $15, which includes two games of bowling, shoe rental and pizza. We will be meeting at the bowling alley, and kids are to be picked up from Pizza Hut at 5:00pm. Carpooling is encouraged- if you need a ride or someone to carpool with, let Sara Stein know! We have had a few volunteers to drive! Sara will not be at 10am service that morning, but Carol MacNaughton will be if there are any last minute questions. Sara can always be reached by cell phone!
Saturday March 27th Coffee Hour prep/ Sunday March 28th Coffee Hour Youth Group will be sponsoring the coffee hour on Sunday March 28th. For any youth who are interested in baking/preparing the day before, we will meet in Dwyer Hall Saturday March 27th at 10:30am-Noon to get ready! Friday April 23rd Coffee House St. Michael’s Youth Group will be hosting a Coffee House in Dwyer Hall the evening of Friday, April 23. We will serve hot beverages and baked goods with an opportunity for open mic. In addition, there will be a comedy act by Marc Adamek, and a musical performance by the band of Vicki Gayle Schlierer. A little about Marc: Marc was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York called Herkimer. He then moved to the Capital Region to pursue a degree in accounting from Siena College. He currently works for a small insurance company in Latham, NY. This 26 year-old's comedy is sometimes corny, sometimes literal, but always tries to take a perspective you didn't consider before. Whether it's random, everyday observations or silly expressions we all take for granted, Marc is more than willing to poke fun at something in a fresh and creative manner. More to come on this event soon. If you’re a youth group member and interested in performing as a part of the open mic, please let Sara Stein know.
Saturday May 1 Bottle Drive At 9:30am we will again be having a fundraiser bottle drive to benefit the Youth Group, particularly those interested in going on a mission trip this summer. Save the date and start saving your depositable cans and bottles! If you want to save cans but can’t keep them around your house, Carol MacNaughton has volunteered to hold them. Send mail to John Keimer
with any questions or suggestions about this site.
