Susan has started an online blog [no entries just yet] where she will be posting on how she is doing after her surgery on August 19th…when she can.  This will allow her to reach a larger amount of people without having to be on the phone all the time, when she is resting post-surgery.  The web address for the blog is http://susanstewartblog.blogspot.com   Susan welcomes all members of St Michaels to look! Sara Stein has posted a calendar to coordinate Sue's support network. It's  http://www.my.calendars.net/susanstewart . This was created for those that wish to help Susan with meals, chores, etc..to coordinate the care she receives from all.

Save the date! End of Summer grounds clean-up has been scheduled for 9/13, (rain date 9/20) Let's make the grounds look great for the St. Michael's day feast & breakfast.

Habitat for Humanity Tent-A-Thon 2008 is approaching. The Outreach Committee will supply dinner for all the campers Friday August 15at at 5pm. Salads (not tossed), desserts and a few volunteers are needed to help. Please contact Diane Bartholdi. Also, volunteers are needed to watch over the camp during the day, shifts are 6am-12:30pm and 12:30pm to 5pm. Contact Mary Pasko if you can help with security.

Many openings exist for "Lemonade on the lawn" please sign up to host. Thank you Lennore Bettenger and Sue Plaske for being recent hosts.

"Umbrella of Colonie" home maintenance program is a service that connects seniors with retired handypersons who need assistance maintaining their home. Foe more information or to offer your help, please call 459-7152 or e-mail umbrella@colonieseniors.org 

The Sister's of St. Mary's extend an invitation to any woman who seeks to learn more about living a consecrated life. To explore the possibility. Visit their web site at www.stmaryseast.org There is a Novena of Prayers for the Sisters, on the shelf in the Narthex. Please take one with you as you leave church.

The Mudge family, Shaw, Julie and Lydia visited the Vestry and left us with some brochures to introduce themselves at St. Michael's. Please pick up a brochure or visit www.samsusa.org/sjmudge to learn about the wonderful work they are doing in Peru.

The Outreach Committee has placed a yellow collection basket for personal size toiletries in the narthex. The items are being collected will be donated to the Capital City Rescue Mission as the basket fills periodically. Please donate. "The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me". Matthew 25:40

Can you rise to the $2 challenge? We need all parish families to contribute just $2 per week more than their current pledge in order to close the budget gap. Just $2 a week! Please think prayerfully about it. Thank you.

You unwanted cell phones and used printer cartridges are being accepted for recycling at church. There is a new basket in the Narthex, please deposit your items there. Proceeds from this effort benefits St. Michael's. 

Our Stephen Ministry is here to offer Christian care to those in need or crisis. They are trained caregivers in time of grief, loss, divorce, hospitalization, unemployment or loneliness. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact Fr. Hart. 

Altar flowers now will only be placed unless given as a memorial or in thanksgiving by church members due to budget cuts. Altar flowers are $25 for two vases. Order forms are in the Narthex. Thank you, Ruth Krapf.  

The prayer shawl style worn by Rachel White is available for purchase. Just contact the church office at 869-6417 for details or e-mail.

St. Michael's has e-mail services available for it's members. Signing up is easy. We have 2 types of accounts available. The most popular is a forwarding account. When you sign up for a forwarding account you will be given a St. Michael's address formatted like: firstname.lastname@stmichaelscolonie.org. You need to give us your e-mail address that you would like your mail forwarded to.

St. Michael's also offers a regular e-mail account. The name will be set up the same, but you will have to configure your e-mail client such as Outlook to pull your mail off the server. E-mail features include spam filtering and web mail. You cannot have a forwarding account and a regular e-mail account.
